Paris Fashion Week: Lanvin Spring Summer 2012

They aren’t the big shoulders of Balmain, rather just an accentuated shape – rounded rather than Dynasty – and they sat atop very ladylike pencil skirt dresses. What followed was classic Lanvin. Asymmetric dresses, voluminous pleat waist skirts, jewelled dresses and perfect tailoring. And then it went rock’n’roll on us. Snake print – as in actual snakes printed on silk – jumpsuits, trousers, tops and cardigans, heavily textured mini dresses, further adorned with choker necklaces. That is another thing, like it or not, the choker is back, and their big. Then to finish Alber brought it back to the ladies with a succession of very feminine gowns, from his signature silk numbers to barely there whisps of pleated chiffon. Gorgeous as ever, but it seems that the must have item of Spring Summer 2012 is going to come in quite cheap, in fact many of you will already own it…big trousers.
